The purpose of the open burn period is to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of accumulations of weeds and yard debris. In order to make this a safe endeavor for those involved, please adhere to the following:

A Residential Burn Permit must be obtained from the Lake Valley Fire Protection District at Lake Valley Fire Station 7 or Lake Valley Fire Station 6. Additionally, authorization to burn must be obtained each day of the planned burn by calling 1-888-332-2876.

Burn only between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Cease burning if wind is above 5 mph.

Burn pile must be no more than 4 feet in diameter.

Burn pile must be 10 feet away from any structure or other flammable materials and vegetation.

A garden hose and shovel or other approved extinguishing equipment must be on site and available at all times.

Fire must be attended by an adult at all times until the fire is dead out.

Burning of yard waste only (e.g., weeds, limbs, leaves, etc.).

No burning shall be undertaken unless weather conditions (particularly wind) are such that burning can be considered safe
Failure to abide by these regulations is a violation of California State Law and may result in a criminal citation. Permit holder assumes all liability resulting from the conduct of open burning to include any suppression costs resulting from the burning activity.
